Distraction

The following are just ideas that some members have found to be especially helpful for dealing with the problems encountered in withdrawal.

"Along with spirituality (whatever that form that may take for you), distraction has been my strongest tool. If you can step out of your mind, even if only for a few seconds, you can also leave behind the pain in your body.

Here are some things that worked for me:

bulletCooking
bulletConversations (about anything but anxiety or benzos)
bulletEmail
bulletGoing to movies
bulletListening to an iPod
bulletSpending time with friends
bulletTaking walks, even if they were very short ones
bulletTraining my dog and going to the dog park to watch the dogs play
bulletVideo Games
bulletWatching Comedy Central
bulletWatching DVDs (nothing too dark or violent)
bulletYoga"
