Most of the pimples showed up on my face, but others pushed through the skin of my shoulders and back. These were no ordinary zits. Turbo-fueled by a system gone haywire, these zits quickly morphed into blackheads, whiteheads, and what I started calling "purple heads" -- super sized, angry-red zits with raised purple centers that look like small dermatologic volcanoes.
