These are descriptions of how individuals experienced various symptoms during withdrawal. While everyone's withdrawal is unique and symptoms will be different for everyone, it may be useful to know what others went through. All withdrawal symptoms can be caused by things in addition to withdrawal. If a symptom is persistent or you are worried by it, it is always a good idea to get it checked out by your doctor to ensure nothing else is going on. ______________________________________________________________________ Definition: (n) A pressing or bloating of the belly, as if it were under internal pressure. ______________________________________________________________________ What I've Felt "You feel like you're pregnant, or that you've drank an entire gallon of milk in one sitting, or stuffed yourself full of lasagna at an all-you-can-eat buffet and followed it up with 10 chocolate milkshakes. Your belly feels completely bloated and distended, as if there were a giant knot of highly pressurized air inside, pushing against your skin. Alternately, you feel an enormous weight pushing against your belly, locking it into place such that it's quite difficult to draw a satisfying breath. On bad days, you might have both pressures working at once, in which case you feel as if you might explode. My internal belly pressure would worsen significantly after I ate. " - Matt "This is possibly caused by the benzo receptors in the gut being aggravated by withdrawal." - Matt _____________________________________________________________________ What I've Felt "This is just awful! This past month, my arms thighs and tummy blew up virtually overnight although there is no real weight increase on the scale.
