These are descriptions of how individuals experienced various symptoms during withdrawal. While everyone's withdrawal is unique and symptoms will be different for everyone, it may be useful to know what others went through. All withdrawal symptoms can be caused by things in addition to withdrawal. If a symptom is persistent or you are worried by it, it is always a good idea to get it checked out by your doctor to ensure nothing else is going on. ______________________________________________________________________ Definition: a distressing sensation in the head. ______________________________________________________________________ What I've Felt: During my withdrawal I experienced a large number of different types on head pain. These included Head Pressure it felt like my brain was too big for my skull. Tight bands there was a tight band that used to run around my head over the tops of my ears and across my forehead. It was often there at the same time as the head pressure. I used to think that was a good thing as the tight band may have been the only thing that was keeping my head exploding from the pressure. Headache I would get a weird kind of headache that started at the back of my neck on one side and then creep up to the top of my head. Spears I would get sharp pains like someone sticking me with a spear. Nails Sometimes it felt like I was wearing a cap of nails and it was slow being pressed into my head. Pins and Needles The feeling of nails would often change to a feeling of pins and needles. Sore patches I often have patches on my scalp that were sensitive to the touch Burning sensations - it often felt like a part of my brain was burning - like someone had set fire to it. - Anthea ______________________________________________________________________ What I've Felt: "I had another strange thing
happen with my head. I would occasionally get these Head Bumps. Even at 14
months off I got this raised ridge that could be felt running across the top of
my head ... down the middle ... from front to back. These head bumps/ridges
would last a day to a few days. but always went away." - ______________________________________________________________________ What I've Felt "This is pretty new for me. I have had a headache for about two weeks now and nothing gives me any relief what so ever" - Sandy's six month update _____________________________________________________________________ What I've Felt: "I have been getting recurrent sharp pain just above and behind the left ear. It is causing me a great deal of anxiety. The pain almost comes like labor pains with sharp zaps just in that area of the head.
