My Skin Sensations

These are descriptions of how individuals experienced various symptoms during withdrawal. While everyone's withdrawal is unique and symptoms will be different for everyone, it may be useful to know what others went through.

All withdrawal symptoms can be caused by things in addition to withdrawal. If a symptom is persistent or you are worried by it, it is always a good idea to get it checked out by your doctor to ensure nothing else is going on.

What I've Felt:

“My Arms and face used to get really hot especially in the evenings. It was as if I had been in the sun too long and had been burnt or as if someone had sand papered my skin.”

“I used to feel very itchy especially on my arms and legs.”

“I would get tingling sensations traveling down my legs.”

“My skin, especially my hand and lips always felt very dry.” - Anthea

What I've Felt:

"I had extremely cold nose, knees, shins and feet. They were so cold they actually would feel hot at times. I found that hot showers, jeans, ski socks, and an electric blanket helped to some extent. I also had the "bugs crawling under your skin" feeling. My easiest solution for that feeling was a back scratcher, as the bugs were always crawling across my right shoulder blade."- Carter

What I've Felt:

"Paraesthesia - During tolerance and first two months off mainly in my left leg. This still happens some time when I get upset or really stressed. The last time it happened was Halloween. We got some bad news about a family member, so I went to bed really upset. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and when I stood up, my entire left side from the top of my head down to my toes was tingling. Thankfully, this subsided the next day." Alli
